Comment:

recently have battled off 3 trojan horses off my computer. My startup and shutdown times were delayed. I uninstalled a program and my shutdown time reduced to normal, but it still takes a while to boot. I have Windows XP Professional. Everything is fine until i get to the windows logo. The bar usually goes accros the screen 4 times and then I get to the login screen. Now it takes about 1 minute.

The program I uninstalled was McAfee. Most of you would think I'm crazy, but I also had AVG and I think they were biting each other.

Sometimes I get this message...

That doesn't happen all the time but it has happened more than once.

I also am getting a message from Microsoft saying...

The system has recovered from a serious error.

I get that a lot...

PLEASE help me cause I hate it and its really annoying.

first of all, get rid of AVG and MCAFEE and get Norton Antivirus, it sounds like the viruses you had could have been msblast and/or the welchia, if so you need to update your windows at windowsupdate.com, go and purchase Norton Antivirus 04 pro, which has a pre-install scan of your entire system, because if you install a virus scanner with a virus on the system it sometimes will not be recognized by the virus scanner because it will implement into it (not all the time) after you run the pre-scan and get rid of the viruses then install norton and your windows will be up to date for security and you will have a clean system with a brand new virus scanner, update your definitions frequently because they are released practically once a week, and also check for windows updates frequently as they are released just as frequently...

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL is usually a device driver or device not compatable error. try updating all your drivers to the latest ones. One card that I find causes a lot of problems is the ethernet card. Older ones arent liked by XP. I think the CD drive is one of the culpurt also. Microsoft list around 15 0x0000000A errors in the knowledge base, so if nothing else, check them out and see if there is a fix there.

Another thing that would help, would be to upgrade to SP2! It solves some of the device driver errors.
