Hi,

Anyone able to help me. My gf has given me her computer as she is continually getting the blue screen of death. I have no peripherals attached to the machine barring mouse, keyboard and monitor. Everytime it logs on I get an option to use Safe Mode which I do or last Known Good Configuration. Each time, it starts going through the Windows XP screen login and then blue screens and reboots.

I can't see what the blue screen is saying as it goes so quick. I would usually just reinstall the system, but she needs to get some work off it beforehand. How would I go about this?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You could try a repair install.

You can use this to recover the data then do an install or repair.

To allow you to see the BSOD message;

Log into Safe Mode and find the My Computer icon. Right click it, select Properties.

In the Properties dialog select the Advanced tab and then, under Startup and recovery click the Settings button.

In the new window, de-select the option to "Automatically restart" under System failure.

That should allow the BSOD to display until you turn off the computer using the power switch.
