I was using this system and it was working fine, then I upgraded and put my son's video card, cd drive and hard drives into this system and this is what happens. Windows Xp boots to the progress bar then the screen turns black and the monitor light turns from green to amber. I can boot to safe mode but not to normal. I tried a recovery, reformat and even a new hard drive and still get the black screen. Any ideas?

What type of Video Card do you have ? Is it PCI or AGP ? Nvidia or ATI ? Also do you have An On Board Video Card ? have you disabled b4 you Installed your Son,s Video Card ? Anyhow Please Read & follow : 1)log in safe mode and disable the display adapter 2)Try removing and reseating the card inside your Computer 3)Check all cables from monitor to card are securely fixed ,also Check the Pins In the Vga Cable which attached to the new Video Card 4)Use the windows generic vga drivers to see if the problem is definately related to your drivers. 5)Get the latest bios, and drivers for your card and mobo 6)Try reducing the refresh rate of the monitor 7)Test your Ram 8) Test your HDD Bon Courage...
