windows XP AUDIO problems .. help!!

k , i have 2 OS on my pc, one winows me and win xp .. well windows mw had some problems so i couldnt use it any more i think it's currupted when i re installed it, how ever WINDOWS xP was fine till i re installed win me ... after that in XP some how it says there is no Sound Device (CP\sound and audio devices) every thing in there is disabled!!!
so i been trying to download sound deivers a lot of the c media and stuff! even though i have installed the drivers it says no active mixer devices, sound devices and such ....
so what should i do now, any ideas to restore audio/sound to my windows xp?? plz help...

btw : i cant re install win xp cause i couldn't afford the risk and i dont even have the win xp pro CD!! please do help

Go to Microsoft and download Media player again. When asked choose install all new componets.

yes i dis when i chose 'Up grage newer components' and i clicked next then it said sdowed a component sellection thingy a blank box!!!
and at the bottom of the form it was written:
'You have latest version of Media player and it's all components. no upgrage is avaible'
WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW !!!! :(

Turn PC off Remove the sound card Turn the PC on In the device manager make sure no reference of the card remains, if it does then remove them. Turn the PC off Re-insert the sound card and see if windows finds it and re-installs the drivers on the next boot.
Jimi_l BTW What is the make of the sound card? Is it even XP compatable?

well i don't know what sound card it is well it was working properly .... that is before i accedently clicked
c is my drive for windows ME and D is my drive for XP well some how Windows me was courupted so i was tying to fix Win ME with in XP since i couldnt get in to win me!!!!
and .. i dont know where the sound card is located i never saw insind of a CPU :(
