Subject: Windows XP and Vista Dual BootOS: Windows XPCPU/Ram: P4/1GB |
Comment: I have Windows XP installed on my main hard drive (C:) and I had Windows Vista installed on my other drive (D:). When I booted it would ask which version I wanted to load. I recently formated the Vista drive (D:) and when I still boot up it asks which version. I checked the boot.ini file on the C: drive and deleted the Vista line but it still asks me when I boot up. Wondering if there is anyway to get rid of it. Thanks

Reply: (edit)Download VistaBootPRO 3.2 & from the "manage OS entries" tab you can delete the Vista line from your boot options. You can also use "EasyBCD 1.6" to accomplish the same task via its "Add/Remove Entries" button.

Reply: (edit)Next time you have XP and Vista dual boot PC, just boot to Windows XP and insert the Vista DVD in the DVD drive and click Start and Run and type in the Run box Drive:\Boot\Bootsect.exe -NT52 All where Drive is the drive letter of the DVD-ROM drive. This will remove the dual boot option of Vista from your system. Then you can delete or format the Vista partition. Regards suatcini
