I have windows xp and everytime I try to install my Olympus MAUSB-1 smartmedia card reader, XP finds it and installs it as an unknown device. It will not let me update the driver. It therefore sees it as an unknown device and it is inoperable.

So go into the Device Manager, locate the Unknown Device, then update the driver. or, failing that, remove the Unknow Device, and install the driver....
