I have the same Mobo, witha AMD 1Gz. and I didn't have any trouble installing XP. But I did have to do the complete install not upgrade. Did have a little problem with that. But once I did the clean install it has worked just great!

I have the same A7V - AMD 1ghz running bios 1005 with an upgrade XP (from win98). I had no trouble. Everything went fine and the difference between 98 and XP is amazing. My system is MUCH faster and seems to be very stable. The shutdown speed difference is staggering. 98 took about 2 minutes and XP is approx 12 seconds.

I also have a Asus A7V ,384MB SDRAM PC100 along with an AMD Athlon 1.2 Ghz Processor with Bios 1009. I tried the XP Home upgrade from Win98SE and WinME, but always fail. I also tried the clean install method from XP upgrade. I got all the way to two (2) minutes left and the BSOD came up and stopped the installation. I have a lot of peripherals on my system: Leadtek WinFast GeForce 2MX 32MB Graphics, Terratec TValue TV card, AVM ISDN controller card, Netgear FA311 10/100mbps Network card, Iomega Zip100 ATAPI insider, Samsung 52X CD ROM, drive, HP 9310i CD Rewritable drive,Soundblaster PCI512 sound card, removable HDD rack with HDD(Quantum FireballSE 3.2GB) and two HDD on the inside (C: QUantum lct10 series 30GB and a D: IBM Deskstar 22GXP 13.5GB ) I will try again with limited equipment (C: drive and CD ROM drive) and reinstall each piece one by one.
