Hi I am having problem logging into my computer. I am using Windows Xp Home edition.
when i turned on my computer and try to Login in to my account A error message window poped Up and diplayed Message "Message: some system files are missing or damaged you cannot log on at this time. Please use your installation CD to reinstall or Repair windows. Error Code:0x80040507"So i tried to repair using WindowsXP CD and chose option to install( I ignore repair option at first place to avoid Comand line Interface). it took me to Windows XP home edition Setup. there i chose repair option By presing 'R'. it started installing/reparing Windows XP . it Aprrox 32 mins to compleate Process. After that my computer automatically rebooted and Accounts login screen Appeared. i typed my password to loging into my account. i got the same error message as above. Once again i stated the process of reparing and it Failed to fix my problem. So some one please help me fixing this problem.
If i chose to reinstall fresh copy of Windows XP. what will happen to data and settings in my computer?
what will reinstall do?( is it going to overwrite on existing files ?)
My C:\ drive does't have much space left how am i going to reinstall fresh copy of XP? Please Advise.

I've had this problem, unfortunetlly it seems the only way to correct it is to format c:\ to make sure you don't have anything causing a problem, then reinstall windows xp, it worked for me alot of trouble i know but this was the only way i could find.
hope it helps
