What you need to do is run the XP repair consle. Insert the Windows XP CD when the error message appears. Then turn off your computer. Turn it on, and on the VERY FIRST SCREEN press F12. It should come up with a list like.

Internal HDD

Use the arrow keys to select CD-ROM. Then it will come up with a screen like:

Press any key to boot from CD.

So then press a key. Then Windows XP setup will launch. This will take a few minutes. When it finally loads, it will have 3 options:

1. Install Windows XP
2. Repair a previous Installation
3. Exit

Choose 2. Windows will search for corrupt versions of windows. If it displays yours, then select it and go ahead. The setup should guide you from there.
