windows wont shut down

my windows xp wont shut down. when i press start and then turn of coputer then shut down it wont shut down, it just looks at me as if im an idiot. i know what the problem is if i hit ctrl+alt+delete then go processes there is something running that is called SysMap.exe. once i end process this program i then can shut down my computer normally. the real problem is that everytime i turn my computer back on this sysmap.exe is still running and i have to end the process for me to shut down my computer. what i want to know is how to get rid of it once and for all. thnx a lot. im requesting help for the second time because the first time i got the replies the replies did not help a lot.

Sometimes it helps to tell the person who tried to help exactly how their reply "did not help a lot". It could help them (or others who are reading) narrow down what your problem is and how to fix it.
For example, could you not find the "run" key in the registry, or did you delete the entry for the program, but the program still loads?

i deleted the enetry SysMap.exe, i found it using the search there yet the program still loads
