Comment:

Hi I just build this unit, I got the Biostar M7VIG-400 Motherboard combo with the AMD Sempron 2200+ 1.49ghz / 512ddr.
Everything runs fine. I have installed a Kingston 512ddr memory and under system properties Windows only shows 480mb of RAM?
Do I have to do any changes under BIOS? I'll appreciate any help and suggestions.
Thanks

sounds to me like your mobo has onboard grpahics and is giving 32mb of your ram to the graphics.
i didnt check your mobo model but i would assume this is what is happening

Yes, thats correct.
Onboard video graphics 32mb,
Is there a way to fix this, or should I just get me a new video card?

the only way of fixing it is to get a new video card then diable the onboard one. if you go into bios you will see an aoption which will allow you to change the amount of ram the vid card takes. but 32mb is the lowest.
do you have an agp slot on your mobo?
just get a cheap gfx card

Depending on what your using the computer for it might be best to leave it alone. The extra 32meg wont make a huge difference to the overall system speed. You can go inot most shops and buy a 128 meg Nvidia graphics card for £40 or less. If your using the computer for just internet access and working in windows (i.e. no gaming) then you can buy a graphics card that goes into a PCI slot instead. If thats the case, something like a Geforce2 64 meg card would be cheap and would free up your ram, an you will almost certainly have a free PCI slot.
