Using Win XP Pro, SP1, Windows will not recognise some burned CDs when I put them in the drive.
However, if I open nero6 it tells me there is a data track on the disk which looks normal. (clicked the cd info button)
Why won't Windows recognise them?
The CDs in question were burned using Nero 6 are 700MB and were bin/cue files. The CDs when burnt are almost full - 696mb aprox.

Some older drives will not recognise a cd unless it's been finalised. Does it work in someone else's? If it does then try and get hold of a CDROM drive, i dont know where u live but where i live they are only about 10.00
Try finalising the cd and see if that helps.

The post above is correct, also older CD drives will not recognize a CD-RW at all.

I will try it in a friend's computer, although my drive is about three years old and has the latest firmware.
Have had no problems with CD-RWs.
The drive is a Samsug SM-308B - DVD/CDRW

It should definitely read any kind of writable cd then. You might try getting a cleaning kit to clean the laser eye and make sure you are using the latest drivers. I once bought a 50 pack of cd's that almost every one was bad and would not read or burn correctly. I really couldn't say for sure though why it wouldn't read, unless it's something like I stated above, or the drive itself is just going bad. Good luck.

It can read every other CD fine. If my friend's CD Rom drive also fails to read it, then I am going to try burning it again on different CDR brand.

I had Nero 6 and although it said it had burned disks ok they refused to play (finalised or not). Had the drive replaced under warranty, but still no joy. replaced Nero with Pinnacle Instant Write and every disk is fine now. I reckon the fault is with Nero 6.
