when i turn my laptop on this is what it reads(we apologize for the inconvenience but windows did not start successfully.A recent hardware or software change might have caused this and so on......) it gives me these choices -SAFE MODE----SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING...SAFEMODE WITH PROMT COMMAND ....LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION (my most recent setting that worked) and then the last......START WINDOWS NORMALLY ---last choice is the only one that loaded windows but then came to a blank screen I did and try to use the recovery disc but it wouldnt read, anyone have any ideas? Thanks to those who respond : )

Double check your boot settings in the BIOS...make sure the CD drive is listed before the HDD. You realize that if you use the recovery CD, you may very well lose all your saved files, documents & photos?

If you have the original xp cd you may be able to repair the os in repair consol.
