i knocked the back of my computer, and the plug for my mouse got unlugged. the mouse is a logitech wireless mouseman optical. i plugged it in, but it wouldn't recognize the drivers for it. it installs fine, but at the end of the process, it says that it wasn't installed correctly, so my mouse doesn't work. i tried to use a different mouse, and the same thing happened. i've tried to install printers, and the same thing happened, and it also happened with the game port on my sound card. my sound card updated perfectly, but for some reason, the gameport didn't. i tried to install it the other day, and the same thing happened. so now i'm unable to install new hardware and update exsisting hardware. i'm stuck without a mouse right now, so is there anything i can to do to fix the problem? thanks for the help

Try system restore and get it back to the last known working state before you took the back off your PC.

If this still doesn't work then you may have damaged the plug/cable!

i can't use system restore. i tried 5 different dates and they all say that windows can't restore to that date so no changes were made. i know that it isn't a problem with the mouse or any of the other things because the mouse works with data lifeguard off a bootdisk for my hard drive. is there anything else that could help short of a reformat/reinstall?
