Took a lot of searching, but I finally found this;
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/919529/en-us

If you go to the section 'Removing Windows Vista from a dual-boot configuration'

I tried using the command in the Command Prompt in both XP (C: drive) and Vista (V: drive), yet it just gives the message 'The system cannot find the path specified.'

Does anyone have any idea about this..

Are you sure you're typing it properly?

Try this route.

0. Go into folder options

1. Enable "hidden files and folder" & "protected operating system files" from in there.

2. Look in your C: drive for "Boot" folder & "bootmgr" file.

3. Delete both the file & folder above and that gets rid of the Vista menu.

Neither such folder/file.

And yes I'm sure I'm typing it correctly. I tried a few different variations like uppercases/lowercases and removing and including the space in the command.

There are two spaces, as indicated with the underscores:

V:\Boot\Bootsect.exe_–NT52_All

Should the spaces be there, or not?

"Neither such folder/file."

Duh! You won't see them unless you've unchecked the 'Hide protected operating system (Recommended)' box within folder options window.

That's a good point. Are you sure that deleting the folder and that file is safe? I just want to be able to get the normal XP boot menu, and then I'll delete the vista partition.

If you have a raid drive and you still have a ide drive not as system you might have to use the xp cd to fix the mbr.

You're still running around in circles even after 23 posts in your other thread HERE.

IMO the best you can do is restore your PB to its factory pre-installed state.

I just want rid of the multiboot menu. Thats all. I realized an entire reformat was too drastic and would mean that I'd be running around in circles for far too long.

I just want to get rid of the multiboot menu, and delete the Vista partition. And I'm happy.

I want to do what Sabertooth suggested, but I've had plenty of problems in the past. I don't fancy taking any risks.

Out of curiousity haev you tried this...

1. Log into XP and right-click My Computer and select "Properties".
2. Click the Advanced tab and then click the Startup and Recovery "Settings" button.
3. Make the changes in the "system startup" area for the OS you want to boot into by default and how long it should wait for you to make a selection.

That way you don't have to delete any files. You're just editing them...
