I'm having trouble logging into the user profile on my PC. (I have only one profile)
I get the following message
"Windows cannot load the locally stored profile. Possible causes of this error include insufficient security rights or a corrupt local profile. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator.
DETAIL - Error performing inpage operation"A 30 sec countdown and then this appears
"Windows cannot find the local profile and is logging you on with a temporary profile. Changes you make to this profile will be lost when you log off."Another 30 seconds and I then get the saving your settings message and the Windows log-off/shutdown music plays and it goes back to the profile screen.
I have tried starting up in safe mode but again it gets to the profile screen and i get the same messages.
I therefore tried the administrator profile in safe mode and it kind of flashes onto a black screen with the safe mode text top and bottom but then back to the profile page as though it logs in and logs out straight away.
In addition to this it's running incredibly slowly even to get to the safe mode user profile screen.
Could it be RAM? i've been getting a feeling my RAM has been deteriorating as i have been having problems trying to play music and video whilst doing anything else.
Any ideas what i can do. I don't have much experience of playing about with BIOS so would need some fairly detailled pointers.
Also is there a way of checking if files have been wiped off the HD because if all else fails i could borrow an external USB case and transfer and format?
Many thanks

It is not the RAM. If it is the ram, it won't even boot up to Windows. There are a few things you can do:
1) In normal Windows mode (not safe mode), log in to Administrator account. Then, rename your old profile to something else. Then log off and login again using the username/pwd of the profile gone bad. If it works, transfer your files over from the old profile
2) You can attach your HD to another working computer as a slave drive, or better yet, make sure the jumper setting is set to "cable select" on the bad hd and on the good computer, unplug the cable from the CDROM and plug it into this bad hd. Boot up and yoou should see it to backup files.

Cheers for the reply
I can't do number 1 as i can't log in to any profile.
I'm in the process of doing number 2 however there is a partition on the drive and i can't view the files on the partition. How can i get to view these files?

Hi t00farg0ne,
Have you fix your computer yet? Me too, It happened to me last night. Don't know what to do yet. Let me know if you know how to fix it.
Thanks,
Cubi
