When trying to run windows update, I get a message Administrator's only. I am the admistrator. I also tried in safe mode and still can't get it. I contacted microsoft, and they keep emailing me different things to try. So far, nothing works.

Hi Lisa22,
What have you tried that didn't work?
What did MS tell you to do so we will not repeat the same thing all over again.

Please elaborate more on what you may have done that may have caused the problem and what you have dont to try and fix it.
When you say you cant install windows updates that may have more to do with install privaledges than win update. Have you tried installing anything else?
Let us know

Also, make sure your PC clock is on the right date and time, if the date is wrong, MS update site will not work properly

Did you by any chance change any security settings?
I had the same problem when i followed the advice from this pagehttp://pestpatrol.com/support/howto/how_to_clear_a_hijack.asp#DisablingScripting
After undoing a few changes i could get updates without any problems again.

maybe its the version of windows update. go to google and search "windows version 5 beta" and download the latest version of windows update. hope this solves your problem

I have been corresponding with microsoft, sending them all kinds of files. FIrst they had me delete some corrupt active X files, and they sent me new ones in a zip file. However, I am having problems installing the new files. The first error message I received, windows has encountered an error; then I had the administrator message. However, I am the administrator. By not getting windows update, I can't download the new securities patch.
Ertugrul, I can't download any version of windows update at all.

try reinstalling internet explorer. search "download internet explorer" on any search engine.
