Windows Update wont Install

Hi all, I have been trying for the past couple days to download and install updates from Windows Update. I am assuming the files are being downloaded (not showing on the bar that its being d/l'd) but when it comes time for the install....it stops and says it failed. I have read other posts regarding this similar issue and have tried what was said. I am still having the same problem. There is one update that I really need, its the hangapp one. If anyone can offer any suggestions, I would really appreciate it. I have a cable modem, not sure if that helps or not.

keep trying, it took me about twenty or more, times to get the latest critical updates.

when they do download you'll see the progress indicator move to the right. with the critical updates being "in the news" the site is overloaded. it would be nice if ms had a bunch of alternative download sites.

If it worked before, it is probably not you. Windows update has been extremely slow this past week.

Hi and Thanks to all that responded.
I finally got it to work.
I had to use the Remove button a couple of times, then went back and clicked on install and finally kicked in and started d/ling and installing.
I thought it was my computer that was having a problem, but I see that others were having the same problems that I was.
This is a great forum, I am glad that I found it. There are so many helpful people here. Keep up the great work you are all doing.
Summary: Ok "System recovered from a serious error"....there is an update for this, but It wont install! Either will 19 other critical updates'....will download, but in the installation process I was gettin...
Summary: True, though a tad supsicious! there are many reasons why it may not be working, goto Google.com and search for AUTO UPDATES WONT INSTALL. ...
