Comment: I keep getting this message when ever I do a windows update... "Windows Update software did not update successfully". I tried making the site a trusted site and turning off the firewall settings. Any ideas? Thanks

Reply: (edit)You also might try this: Instead of running it straight from the server click on save and allow it to download into your MyDocs folder or something similar. Run it from there and after a succesful update - delete the update file. writerranger

Reply: (edit)I too have the same problem. I'm evaluating XP from MSDN, does that have something to do with it? I've tried everything they've said to do as far as relaxing IE security settings to the maximum. While it's true that I may have inadvertently click on "don't accept" when prompted about the certificate, why isn't it reprompted me? Is there somewhere that my (possible) negative choice is being stored indefinitely? I've checked everywhere but can't find where it might be. I keep getting the same "Windows Update software did not update successfully" no matter what. Any other suggestions? --RE
