When I go to do a Windows Update it loads the first screen and says Checking Version of Windows Update Software, it has never said about trusting microsoft, this is first time I have ran Windows Update and I know before it always asked that question, then when you scan for updates it takes seconds and then says windows update error, never even move on the percentage bar, it just goes straight to 100% Anybody know how to fix this Thanks Kind Regards Pete

Pete: can also be caused by SSL (Secure Socket Layer). the scan process requires SSL and if the date and time on your computer varies too much from the valid date and time of the SSL certificates on Windows Update, the process will fail. verify that your computer’s date and time are accurate and that the Internet Explorer language option is not empty. to check the language setting in Internet Explorer: click "Tools" and then select "Internet Options". click "Languages". make sure at least one language is listed in the "Language Options" dialog box. delete the Internet cache and cookies; click "Tools" and then select "Internet Options". click "Delete Cookies". click "Delete Files". try again...
