Windows Update Crashes

Whenever I go to check for updates on Windows Update, IE always freezes, but I can surf the web just fine with it. My brother is able to connect to Windows Update just fine though, so its not Microsoft's fault (I wish it was.) Is there any way I can get IE back to an operational state (I've already tried System Restore,) or some alternative site where I can download any updates from Microsoft?

yes there is a place that will check your computer for updates then you select what to install. It works great go to www.Bigfix.com when the site opens click on the bigfix download its on the left side of the screen it will download a program to check your computer and notify you of the needed updates

Thanks Doc. This is probably the second or third time you've saved my skin. I am forever in your debt. Thanks to marco and EC, too. And, yes, as much as I dislike it, I do have SP1 installed.
