What is wrong with the windows extracting program?

I download tubes and pictures to use in my Paint Shop Pro 9 program.

The problem is it will unzip anywhere from 2 zipped files up to 8 or more in a row and then I get this message that there are no files found for the remaining other unzipped files. Sometimes I can unzip a lot more files than this before it says it can't unzip any more. But I can restart my computer and those same remaining unzipped files are fine and they do unzip normal.

This problem has been going on for a while now but is getting worse it seems.

I just had my hard drive replaced only a couple of months back. The computer was a refurbished and had something wrong with the hard drive from the time of purchased. But even then I had the same problems with unzipping files, but only occasionally.

I empty all off line and temporary internet content each time. I have empties all my cookies and even deleted the history files. I have done a disk cleanup and defrag. I have done a google search and can't find anything like this problem there.

I use Ad-aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, SpywareBlaster and all updated. I have ZoneAlarm Security Suite (firewall, antivirus and more).

I am so tired of restarting by computer every one to five minutes to get windows to unzip these zipped files.

Is there something else I should be doing or is there an overall problem with this program to start with?

Absolutely nothing wrong ... from my own end and that of my clients.

I download tubes and pictures to use in my Paint Shop Pro 9 program.

Who created the original zip files?

You can try the MS sfc /scannow. Start-run-type sfc /scannow. You will need the XP cd.

You could also try this:

Use the following command from the Run dialog:

regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll

If you ever want to re-enable the built-in zip support, use:

regsvr32 zipfldr.dll

Then see if it works.

Per,

I have an HP computer and there is no XP CD only HP's CD's and I would need step by step instruction because I don't understand how to use them.

Tonysathe,
Could you or someone explain what the regsvr32 /u zipfldr.dll command is supose to do. Maybe I will try it if I understand it first.

Tammy, it uninstalls the built in archiving and then reinstalls it.

Fed up with Windows? Try Ubuntu Linux

I thought I would come back here and update my post.

I had received a security re-update after I made this post and I hadn't done anything new with my computer, but the problem with unzipping files has seemed to have desappeared.

If in the future I start having troubles again then I will get another replacement program to unzip my files.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions.
