I tried to use the original cd to repair. doesnt work, keeps going back to the same error messages. " you can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup cd-rom. select r at the first screen to start repair." restarted again with the cd. goes back to the same screen. tried f8 and f10 to change the boot options. tried every options in the f8. nothing seems to work. also downloaded a boot disc from the internet using another computer. that doesnt seem to work either. can some one help?

check your event viewer logs. Could be that the hard disk is developing bad sectors and is at risk of failing. You will see entries under system referring to "bad blocks" or possibly "I/O " errors if this is the case.
