A recent hardware or software change might have caused this." Then I Need To Choose Either, "Safe Mode" Or Safe Mode W/ Networking Or Safe Mode W/ Command Prompt OR Start Windows Normally, After I Choose One, A Couple Of Seconds Later A Blue Screen Come Up With Another Error Message And Restarts Over And Over, Can Someone Help ?

Reply: (edit)Windows Updates. IF it was enabled and computer was on and connected to the internet you could have gotten some updates. That is a change in your software.

Reply: (edit)Watch the POST screens during the startup to see if your harddrive is identified there. Also, enter the BIOS (setup) screens to see what your boot order is set to. Make sure you haven't left a CD in the CD drive. The same POST screens should have a message stating what keystroke to enter the BIOS screens. Your Harddrive may have died. That is what you will be trying to determine.

Reply: (edit)OtheHill, i dont see a post screen at all, when it restars it goes staright to the menu to choose safe mode ect. In The Bios, The Boot Order Is #1 CD-ROM Boot, #2 Floppy Boot, #3 Internal Network Adapter Boot. Is That The Right Order ?

Reply: (edit)That is not the right boot order. I assume this is a stand alone PC? Look in the BIOS for a setting called enable fast boot and disable that. Disabling that setting will allow you to see the POST screens. I suggest you set the boot order to #1 disabled, #2 CD rom, #3 HDrive. If there is another boot option after that you can set to search for other bootable devices. Right now your harddrive isn't even is the boot order. The date, time, drive setup should be on one of the first screens in the BIOS. Look to see what, if anything is listed for your first IDE drive. The boot order may have changed because the computer no longer sees your harddrive. If there is an option to autodetect the harddrive, try it.

Reply: (edit)The Only Thing That Is On The Post Screen On My Computer Is A Compaq Logo And Some Little Words That Say Press <ESC> To Change Boot Order And I Press That And The First Thing That Boots Is My "Notebook Hard Drive" So I Press Enter And It Takes Me Back To The Black Screen Where It Says "We apologize for the inconvenience but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have caused this.

Reply: (edit)You may be able to get the boot screens to show by changing the settings for the Compaq logo. Like show small logo or no logo. After changing the settings in the BIOS screens you need to hit esc to backup one screent and then SAVE and EXIT. Usually F10 and then ENTER. If you changed the boot settings you must not have saved properly. What about the settings for the drives? Do you see anything for those?

Reply: (edit)Well, did you manage to get the POST screens to show? You need to do that to see if the harddrive is being recognised by the BIOS. Otherwise we are going nowhere here. If you can't find any settings for the harddrive in the BIOS screens and you can't see the POST screens there is no easy way to tell if you harddrive is OK or not.

Reply: (edit)That is the Compaq Logo. Reread my previous posts concerning changing that. When you start the computer you need to see screens that show how much RAM, drives, etc. You need to find the setting to lose the Compaq dumb Logo.
