When I turn off or Restart my computer it logs off and says Windows shutting down and I swear it takes about 1 min before it turns off. I have no Virus, not a lot of services running, Just installed xp clean install and runs great so far, have all my updates, any suggestions or maybe a tip site on the internet.

Pistal, FWIW, Windows seems to have been plagued with shutdown problems of one sort or another since day 1. I use a standalone shutdown proggie (for convenience) called 'Slawdog' (said to work on all versions). Get it free @: http://www.slawdog.com/products/sma... among other places. Works good and I drag/dropped the icon into my quicklaunch so it'd be handy for use. HTH. Ed in Texas.

I will try that program for shut down but still want to check some things out for instance, my xp has been reinstall with a clean install several times over this past 3 or 4 years and I have never had xp shut down and restart so slow...so I did find out a couple of things that has speeded it up about 30% faster, and want to post it so some one else may check their files and fix...One thing is I turned off the Windows Firewall after I install my own Comodo Firewall and it partley turned it off..meaning in the control panel under firewall it was turned off so I assumed it was not there but when I was going thru my Services running and the Windows Firewall for Internet Connection Sharing was set to Automatic so it was working against my own firewall...Another thing I caught was my Wireless connection I have a D-Link and use WIFI, and the instructions were to turn off in the network to uncheck let windows configure, so I did and assumed it turned windows off and let me use the d-link program well I look in the service and the Wireless Zero Configuration was on Automatic and running, so when I shut windows down I think it was confused and did not think it had to shut down these services and eventually did turn them off, anyway its a lot faster now on turning off, I am going thru other services to see what else is running against each other, my dlink is usb so when that is not running right its slow on the net too, so that has speeded up also. As far as the other tips changing my registry to not clear page file, it was already set that way. Thanks for all of you guys help, no doubt I will be posting again for some information.
