Windows Setup not recognising hdd

I have recently bought a new hard disk, and copied all my data across to it using Norton Ghost. Unfortunately Windows Setup won't recognise it, as the Serial ATA driver is not working. I also can't access the Bios settings.

A little more explanation would be nice. How did you manage to Ghost your drive over if the drive wasn't recognised? Did you set it up & partition it beforehand? What MOBO are you using?

If your previous disk (the source of the image) is IDE ATA and the new one (destination) is SATA, you will need to run setup again (from the CD) to install the SCSI drivers for the SATA interface, from the manufacturer's CD of your motherboard or controller. When installing 2K or XP from scratch it gives you the option near the start, to press F6 to install these drivers. Use this, go as far as starting the setup options, then restart the PC. It's just a guess at this point, but I don't want you installing over any original settings just yet if avoidable. If it still doesn't start, you may need to continue with installing over your original installation a little further for it to boot. You may need to complete the whole setup for it to work right. I've done this on quite a lot of PCs without loss of personal data. However it does warn you that this can happen, so be careful.
