Comment:

I've had two problems recently, both have led me back to problems with Windows services.

1. NO SOUND - NO AUDIO DEVICE
No sound at all on my laptop. Going into control panel/sounds & Audio Devices shows "No Audio Device" instead of "Sigma Tel Audio" which is what it should be. After much research I discovered that the problem was that the Windows Audio service had stopped, clicking Start fixes it, but only for that session, after a reboot I have to start the service again. (Start/Run/Services/Windows Audio/Start) It is set to Automatic but does not seem to start automatically.

My question is how can I fix this and get it to start automatically?

2. INTERNET PROBELM
Was having problems with my wireless connection spending ages saying "acquiring network address". Also traced this to the Windows services: DHCP Client this time. Also saying "stopped", clicking Start instantly fixes the problem, but I have to do it again after each reboot. Very annoying.

Again, how do I make it start automatically?

Any thoughts please?

Right click the service,
then click Properties,
then next to "Startup type", select what is desired.

Thanks for the suggestion Chuck2, but I've done that already, they are both set to Startup Type Automatic. The problem, as I said, is that it's not actually working - they're not starting automatically, so I have to go and click Start.

Do you check for, and remove, Spyware ??
Spyware info.from Microsoft
Virus and Spyware scans work better in Windows Safe-Mode.
