When Microsoft word is opened, the message " Windows script host: There is no script for file extention ".nec" appears.

Carl: .nec files are used for antenna modeling software, such as the design of a 2-wire 30-meter Yagi.

and if you are not antenna modeling or using Windows Scripting Host (WSH), then be wary of the potential for a virus...do a full system scan with an updated or online utility.

if the virus scan is negative, then do a file search for .nec files and delete them.

if you do not plan to use WSH, then you can increase security for your OS by disabling WSH, as follows:

log on as an administrator.
click Start, Control Panel, select Classic view, double-click Folder Options,
select File Types tab, then scroll down and highlight VBS VBScript Script File.
(if you can't find it, your machine is safe and you don't need to do anything else).
click on the Delete button.
if you see a dialog asking you to confirm removal, click 'Yes'.
