I forgot to ask, it'a prompting me to select where windows is loaded C:\MiniNT or C:\I386? I asume it's C:\I386 but thought I would check?

The setup files are in the I386 directory. This also applies to Windows NT and 2000, unless your using NT on a PowerPC or other processor, then they're in another directory.
Why the C: drive? Did you put the CD files on the Hard disk?
A repair/recovery *shouldn't* delete your personal files. I am not 100% sure, though.

Oh sorry, I thought you meant it asked for the files during Windows setup.
If you're installing/repairing Windows using a genuine Windows CD, put the CD in the CD drive and reboot, after all of the POST messages go by, the Windows setup should boot from the CD automaticly, and it will ask you where the setup files are. (D:\i386, or E: or whatever your CD drive letter is) and whether you want to install or repair Windows.
If the CD *doesn't* automatically boot, you need to set the CD drive to boot first in the BIOS.
If the setup files are on the HD, switch to the i386 directory (like you said you did) and type WINNT. Because it's not on the CD, it may ask you to stick in and label some floppy disks, and later in the setup it will ask you to stick in a particular disk at a particular time. Hope this info helps.

Right. According to your first two posts, you just needed to know if a recovery/repair would wipe out your personal files, and where the Windows setup files were located.
We may be able to help you even farther-why do you need to recover/repair Windows?

Sorry, the problem is during start/boot up when it gets to the XP start up screen, it just goes blank, same thing happens in safe mode. The system's still getting power but it's just a blank screen.

Besides the 3 links provided by Chuck 2, if it gets to the screen with the Logo and the scrolling blue bar, then goes blank, Windows may not recognize your display or video card, or your driver quit working. If you're using a standard CRT display, Windows should start up in the standard VGA mode (640x480 @ 16 colors).
