Hi there,
Recently I bought a new macBook and brought it to some
professional people who partitioned its HS to run both
Windows and Mac OS. I paid them for the upgrades and
for installing Windows XP. But they didn't provide me
neither with the installation CD nor with the Product Key
and so I've been unable to activate Windows. When I went
to ask for that they always replied the guy in charge
wasn't available and so to try some other time. I also sent
emails but I haven't received any reply.
I am wondering if they did something fishy and how do I
have to behave since I also paid for Windows installation.
Any suggestion?
Many thanks in advance!

Tell them to provide the license or you will contact Microsoft.

Before posting try google. Backup. Use anti virus software.

Not only that but tell them you plan on contacting a lawyer as well. You purchased something that they failed to provide you with....you should be able to have the original installation CDs and the COA validation sticker that comes with the product as well!

Do not back away from this...these people robbed you and are now giving you the run around. Do not allow them to just steal your money!

If xp is up and running and legal, you should not need the key to activate.

There are two types of keys.
One is used in images to install on multiple machines and then the key is updated to correspond with the legal coe sticker. That key only installs and will not activate.
When the key is updated it then activates.

The other key is the one that comes with each cd. Installs and activates. Again you should not be asked at activation what the key is if the copy is legal.

There are free key viewers ....google.
Write down and save your key....for future use.

If your activation fails, then contact Microsoft.

I would ask the employees the name and phone number of the stores manager. Do so without any explanation to them.

You should have a cd and a coe sticker.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for your kind replies.

Well, the 30 days of activation are already expired and so I cannot run Windows. The product key is required during the activation process with the installation ID.

I will ask for it one more time through email warning them that I will report the problem to Microsoft if they fail to reply and then I will act accordingly.
