I have just bought a new nLexmark All-in-One Printer, and it is somehow interfering with my computer, after installation everythimg was ok,
I downloaded a lot of Win Updates, and had to re-boot afterwards, when it re-booted, it wouldn't load Windows, itn loaded as far as showing my motherboard (SYNTAX) on the screen, and that all, and no re-booting, pulling the plug or anything would make any difference, them I found that if I removed the printer usb cable from the computer, it booted up as normal, then after replacing the usb cable, everything (including the printer) worked ok.
This is the only way I can boot into XP, by removing the usb printer cable, and replacing it afterwards, any idea anyone?

Hey, how are U? Listen. You went about things

alittle wrong the Lexmark X83 and a few other

of the All in One printers have very Advanced

Twain Drivers that XP just dont seem to like

U need to really go to Add/Remove programs

and Uninstall everything to do with the

Lexmark. Leave the USB unplugged Etc. When

you Delete all the Lex stuff; again try to

Update Everything to do with Windows I mean

Everything. Then Go to Lexmark.com and Get

the Absolute Latest Driver for your Printer.

they tell U how to type it in. Also; there

is a total cleaning tool on the site, make

sure you use it; it removes all the old

driver installs. When you go and reinstall

the New Lexmark Driver it will say probably

Not windows signed, click Continue Anyway.

Then just follow the prompts. Dont install

the USB cable until it says so; and when You

reboot, make sure you click Reboot and not

Shutdown. Also; when you reboot make sure

Your Puter is not over processing. Ctrl Alt

Del to check this, if it is; go to the

program and End Process. That is as long as

it's not a System Service. Good Luck.

Did you install WinXP drivers for this printer? You might check out Lexmarks website and MS knowledgebase to see if others are experiencing this problem too. Maybe they have a patch or something you need to install.

The main issue is lexmark is poorly written. Go to the lexmark site and get the uninstaller tool. When you uninstall from the lexmark cd or add/remove programs it leaves a bunch behind. The drivers on the lexmark site are HUGH. Start the download and go to bed. DO NOT PLUG IN THE USB CABLE UNTILL IT PROMPTS YOU TO, like Sivar said. I have an x73 and besides being a pain in the butt to get to work, you get "problems commucating with the printer" errors. That stuff is just cheap junk. They give you a cheap price on the device and kill you with the cartriges. Get a real printer...

Thank you all for your answers, but I don't think a lot of the things you mention apply, for one thing, this All-in-One is a series 3100, model P3150, and has only just come on the market, and this model you have to install the usb cable before the instaLL, it doesn't tell you , you have to wait until it tells you to, and I've proved that by removing the cable and replacing it during use.
What it does tell you,is to make sure you put the cable in the same port every time.
If you think I'm wrong in my asumptions, I won't argue with you, as two heads are always better than one.
This is the third Lexmark All-in-One I've had, and with the X74/75 and X84/85 you do have to wait until you are told to fit the usb cable.

Well I gotta disagree with about everything in that last post Henry33 sorry =(

Lexmark are horrible drivers built to trash windows.

ALWAYS INSTALL SOFTWARE FOR USB DEVICES BEFORE PLUGGING THEM IN!!! ALWAYS!!

Whether you use the same USB port or a brand new one should absolutely not make any difference in the world, unless you make the mistake of not having the most up to date USB drivers.

There are lots of bugs with USB depending on implementation so as a previous poster suggested, make sure you have your PC up to date with all the drivers BEFORE you start with the lexmark.

Good luck,

J.

Henry,

You're not alone! I bought a P3150 a few days ago and am having the same problem - even after following the suggestions in the previous responses in this thread of messages. If you get a solution out of Lexmark, it would be great if you'd post it here. Thanks, g

Garyfourman/
I had a friend check my Athlon for the printer problems, and he completely removed it and re-installed it again, and it just won't boot into windows with the USB cable connected.
To anyone!
I have had my Pentium four checked, and it seems that it has blown my Motherboard, now, it was bought from QVC, so obviously Lexmark will not want to know, so how do I make a claim on QVC for my damaged computer, it is now in PCWorld under repair, can anyone tell me how I go about claiming.
