I was doing video editing with Windows Movie Maker. What only takes about 5 minutes of saving now takes 30 minutes. Then this balloon popped up with a message that a certain windows Prefect file is corrupt. I should run chkdisk. Please help. What happened... And how do I run chkdisk. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

"Prefect" or "Prefetch"?

Anyhow, to run chkdisk, go to your start menu and click "Run...". In that box that opens type "cmd" and press enter.

A black window with white text will open. Type "chkdsk c: /F /R" and press enter. This could take some time to run.

Feel free to delete all the contents of the Prefetch folder. Windows will rebuild it

Thank you both for your replies. Yes, it was Prefetch file-- thank you for the correction. =)

I was able to run chkdsk upon restart but it got stuck at 22% for almost 2 hours now. Is there something wrong?
