Windows Movie Maker crash

Simply put, my problem deals with Windows Movie Maker. I got this laptop in Dec/06, and have never used WMM 2.1 until now, this was my first time loading the program. I immediately get the encountered a problem and needs to close box. It crashes immediately, or maybe like a couple seconds go by, but its basically instant. It crashes every time I open it. I tried finding and renaming codecs, that didnt work, I've updated my DirectX to the most recent.

Check your Event Viewer log files to see if anything relevant is being recorded. Also check to make sure you have ALL the Windows Updates installed. High Priority as well as Optional updates. You may just need to update to Windows Media Player 11 to help solve some codec issues - if that's what it is...
