Hey Jim,

Are these messengers pop-ups? Are they advertisements and such? Or is it a small icon in your taskbar that is green? The last solution is called MSN messenger service, it is a chat program pre-installed into Windows. The first two problems are Messenger windows that are sent by people advertising on your computer. You can get rid of these pop ups by clicking on Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > In the list of services scrool down to "Messenger" and right click > Select Properties > press "stop" > under "startup type" select "disable"
Once you have done this you will never get a pup up again!

James

If it's the small green icon, its called msn messenger service. It's a chat program that is very popular. If you want to disable it, you can access that add/remove programs through the control panel. Click on add/remove programs, and in the list that is given, find MSN messenger. CLick "remove" and follow the instructions....before you know it, it'll be gone

Well...not quite that easy jlush. You first have to go to C:\Windows\INF\ and find a text file there called sysco.inf in it will be a line like this: msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,hide,7

get rid of the hide to make it look like this:msmsgs=msgrocm.dll,OcEntry,msmsgs.inf,,7

Then it can be seen and removed. Sometimes you have to remove it from "windows components" in the add/remove programs.
all else fails, just rename the folder to something else for C:\program files\messenger to ...Program Files\mouseneger and it won't be found.

Cheers!

Very easy fix is to rename the messenger directory to something else.
