Subject: Windows Media Player with AOL Music
OS: Windows XP
Comment:

I've been trying to make Windows Media Player my default sound on my home PC, but every time I try to play songs on AOL's music sites, AOL automatically opens up the music on RealPlayer, and the sound quality is poor.
I thought I followed the right steps to make WMP my default sound, but this keeps happening. Is there something on my AOL settings that I have to adjust? Or something on RealPlayer that I have to adjust?

It's either called Preferences or Options, but you should be able to make adjustments within RealPlayer itself.

In AOL Settings
Go to Preferences
Multimedia
check Use the AOL Media Player
click Save

AOL and Realplay have some kind of deal going so realplayer installs when you install AOL. The tech support people tell you they don't but don't believe that for one second. Yes Realplay's sound is not even 2nd rate. What I did was to go to add remove programs and just remove realplayer. What happens is when you crank up aol it tells you some files are missing and do you want to add them now. That's the realplayer files. Just tell it no and log on. Windows will automatticly default to the built in media player.
