Comment: Whenever i go to play a song off windows media guide or anything i get a message that pops up and says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:")." obviously i didnt type anything in, i clicked on a link, i dont get why this always happens, i have media player set to use all protocals, what can i do to fix this?

Reply: (edit)Dude..try the following.. A)Update your windows media player .Go to HELP > Check for Media player updates B)Try to use clear the Media PLayer URL list.To do this follow the below steps Close Windows Media Player (if it's running). 1)Click Start -> Run, and type in: regedit.exe 2)Open up the branch HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList 3)Delete each File# key listed. It will be gone and I believe this part will solve your problem. C)Go to this site and download the file http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/mrublaster.html .It cleans the recent file used in Windows Media Player Anyone of the above options will work for you. Take care...Post your reply
