I have XP. Windows Media Player worked at one time. Now when I double click to go into it, it always comes back with a message that says "The page can not be displayed". Any ideas on how to get it working. When I actually go in, it comes up with the "Opening" window but quickly goes to the above message.

Snowberry,

Are you clicking on a shortcut or on a media file?

If it's a shortcut ...right-click on it and select properties. Then select the "shortcut" tab at the top. Look in the window labeled "target"... What does it say in that window?

It's a shortcut.

It says .... "C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" /prefetch:1

snowberry,

Programs create "prefetch folders" that can become corrupt and that can be deleted. The program will automatically create a new one. Go here and scroll down for a "batch" program that will delete your prefetch files.

This may solve your problem.

Another route would be to run the ACTUAL program, which will be found in the following folder, subsitutue C: for your drive where you have Program Files if different: -

C:\Program Files\Windows Media Player\

Double click wmplayer.exe

This will provide a "fresh" link for the shortcuts.

Safe Computing...:o)
