windows media player not play mpg

Windows Media Player just suddenly stopped playing mpg movies. It used to few days ago. Tried system restore back 1 week, still they wont play. Updated WMP to version 11 and did updates for it and still not play.
Come up with same error message. 'Windows Media Player encounted an error.'
