Comment:

I have been trying to write some CD's in WMP. It goes through the "converting" phase, until it gets about 75% of the list done, then it errors out saying:

"Windows Media Player has encountered an unknown error with your recordable disk."

Then I right click on one of the error files and get into the "help" (if you want to call it that) menu.

It is a huge discription of 0xC00D119F

I have tried all of the steps inside:

Adjusting the write speed
Cleaning the drive
Rebooting
Restarting
Trying multiple diskettes

Now, please do not flame me about doing google ext. for I have tried those and get nothing but the WMP help file, no cure or fix.

Thanks for any advice

Mike

According to Microsoft:

C00D119F: Cannot copy files to recordable disc

Windows Media Player cannot copy the selected files to the CD-R or CD-RW disc. To fix the problem, do one or more of the following, and then try again:

▫ Check that the CD-R or CD-RW drive is connected.
▫ Clean the disc and ensure that it is not damaged.
▫ Try a different brand of CD-R or CD-RW disc.
▫ If another program is currently copying files to the CD-R or CD-RW disc, wait until the copying process is complete.
▫ Quit other programs that might be using the CD-R or CD-RW drive.
▫ Restart Windows Media Player.
▫ Restart your computer.
▫ Select a slower recording (write) speed.
▫ Use the Windows Error-checking tool to check for file system errors and bad sectors on your hard disk. For more information about the Error-checking tool, see Windows Help.

To select a slower recording speed
▫ On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Devices tab.
▫ In Devices, double-click the CD-R or CD-RW drive, and then click the Recording tab.
▫ In the write-speed list, select a slower speed.

If the problem persists, the CD-R or CD-RW drive might be malfunctioning.

According to me (I'm guessing though!!):
▫ Is there enough HardDisk space free for it to create the converted files? Most burners use a buffering technique: first they write the complete CD-image as a file to the HardDisk, and then they copy that image to the CD.
▫ WMP doesn't have the most elaborate settings to control burning. Using other burn-programs might be a better solution.
▫ Some form of copy-protection that's kicking in? WMP has plenty of options to check/download 'missing info' for CDs/DVDs.
▫ Very long filenames are sometimes to blame
▫ Open TaskManager>Performance to check if you run out of memory at the moment of the error.

My best advice would be to not use WMP for burning, but that's not a proper solution to your problem.

That is exactly everything I have been able to find on the problem, and I tried all of their recommended fixed.

As for not using WMP, what do you recommend then?
