For some reason Media Player 10 does not recognize that my machine has an active Internet connection. When I try to play MP3 or video files on the Net or listed to a streaming audio broadcast, Media Player says that I am not connected to the Internet when in fact I am. I can play MP3 and video files that are stored on my machine without a problem. Any thoughts?

You're probably behind a firewall. Windows has one built into it, but your LAN or your ISP could have one as well. Try two things first.
First, update and make sure you have the most current version of WMP. Try streaming again.
If that doesn't work, turn off your Windows firewall off by going to your control panel and to Windows Firewall. Then try to stream again.

Please go to WindowsMediaPlayer10 + Tools + Options + Network and tell us what you have checked or unchecked under Streaming Protocols and/or under Streaming Proxy Settings
And/or also if you have any type of firewall try unblocking WMP10 and allowing it to access the internet....
