Windows media Player 10 MP3 ripping

I have just upgraded from windows media Player 9 to 10.
Now when I try to rip MP3's I get the message:

Windows Media Player cannot rip the track because a compatible MP3 encoder is not installed on your computer. Install a compatible MP3 encoder or choose a different format to rip to (such as Windows Media Audio).

I thought WMP 10 was supposed to have these built in.
How do I resolve this please?

sorted now thanks. just set to convert to wma, them back to mp3 and changed the size of the file for audio quality
