Ive just got windows xp pro. my computer has windows me pre installed with just a restore pack(boot floppy and restore disk)Iwant to wipe everything to do with me of my computer which i think i know how to do. will someone tell me if this is correct..

change setting in bios for first boot to cd rom put in windows xp disk it will show any operating system thats on the computer and ask if i want to remove it .choose yes and when prompted selecy file system fts is this right. ive seen it done but not 100% sure

but, stay with fat32 on the format. you'll be glad you did later if repairs are needed

You don't have to boot the XP disk though. It can run the setup even if Windows Me is already running, so there is really no need to bother with the bios settings. Do yourself a favor and run the upgrade advisor on the XP disk first so you can search for any updated drivers you might need.
