The LAN connection was recently updated to BT HomeHub (acts as sort of like a server for both computers we use) and a lot of errors have been happening since, corrected most of them. However, MSN Messenger wasn't connecting at all to the internet, as in won't even try to. I've updated Messenger to Live thinking that would solve the problem but no change what-so-ever. I pretty sure its the Firewall settings on HomeHub but didn't want to access them without some idea of what I'm doing. Live keeps saying: "Signing into Windows Live Messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again Later. Error Code: 800401f3" But its said that for a couple of days now. Just need to know how to get Live working, preferably without having to go to the HomeHub firewall settings.

What you have is a router. Surely your ISP who supplies the equipment has a help and support department or you at least have some kind of user manual? You will need to read the user manual and, I'm afraid, have no choice but to go back into the router's settings interface to resolve your issues.
I used to have a signature but it disappeared and I just couldn't be bothered writing another so please feel free to ingore this.
