Subject: Windows lags on almost anything
OS: Windows Xp SP2
CPU/Ram: Core Duo E6320/2gb ram
Comment:

Well, I recently reinstalled windows, on the same hard disk that windows already existed (I just used another folder). However, when I boot with the new OS, it takes far longer than it ever took.
Secondly, the biggest problem, computer lags on almost ANYTHING I do. While listening to music, or watching a movie, even having something like a virus scanner, downloads, or simply opening up a game, the sound lags very bad, same with mouse.

This was never an issue before I reinstalled... Mot sure if this would be the problem, but i installed it on a 500gb sata, that I purchased about 3 months ago, with only about 130gb free.

I installed all drivers as they came from biostar, ati, and ac97, just like I always do (ive done more reinstalls in the past)

Ive also disabled every single non OS service and shut down all programs (all, including ati drivers, ac97 etc)... still lags on anything, such as opening WoW (just when loads, not while playing)

I run ran ubuntu, with absolutely no trouble...

Specs
E6320 - 2.17 OC (problems even if not OCed)
2x1gb ram
biostar tforce p965 mobo
ati x1300

Thank you in advance

what was the reason for reinstalling the operating system? I assume since you said you used a different folder than the origianl operating system folder that you left it on the hard drive? Sounds to me like you might have a dirty install and need to reformat hard drive and then reinstall operating system without more info.

(I just used another folder).

Not good! You should have overlayed the old one or created a new partition for the new one.
