Hello Asianbean,
First of all in such a circonstance : to have a very performant anti-virus, do you have one ?
I suggest you download and try, the best one in the world actually Kaspersky 6.00.303 this program is the only one actually to be able to detect unknown virus via his "proactive défense" system, using the rootkits rules.... not very expensive in fact in regards of the 90% safe protection given, watch it on the red link up .............

Kapersky being 'the best one in the world' is news to me and probably ne1 else who knows his computer mojo :-)

download f-prot (it's free) here:

http://www.f-prot.com/download/home...

and unzip it.

now create a bootable CD (boot images can be downloaded at www.bootdisk.com) and put f-prot on it.

boot you computer from this cd and run f-prot.

too complicated? alternatively you can download the latest version of ultimate boot CD here:

http://www.ultimatebootcd.com/

the cd contains 4 different virus scanner, but they are outdated.

Today's subliminal thought is: 'Calm down ... it's only ones and zeros.'

Good reviews guys, here's one more that has worked for me many times.

Eric, D/L http://www.majorgeeks.com/Avast_Hom...
then turn off your existing AV and let Avast do a bootscan on your PC. Whatever it finds, just move it to the chest and see if that helps to cure your problem.
You may also want to add Spyware Blaster and keep it updated at least once a week.
Good Luck

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Hello mattie,
I am sorry if you don't get information about anti-virus in the web ? easy to get.
I am always surprised when people here just propose to download this and this, often because it is freewares !!! freewares doesn't mean it is easy to use !!! most of the people coming here are not experts !!
just regulars users, and what are they expecting ? just a easy solution able to resolve if possible their problem in less than 15 minutes !!!!
This is why I suggested Kaspersky anti-virus !!!

Did you try it ? NO I did
What do you know about this product ? NOTHING
you have a free 30 days trial for this program YOU DIDN'T KNOW

Why to pay for 30 $, because people are not working on this planet for free !!! even you...
And what a service you got with Kaspersky for 30$

You say yourself what you propose is too complicate !!!! why do you do it anyway ? just to talk and to post ?
Man, come back to reality, please....
Kaspersky Lab created the most efficient program never made in the world, using the new system called "proactive defense" able to detect anything looking like a potentiel virus signature (rootkits rules).
A computer used with Kaspersky anti-virus is almost safe for 95%, not bad don't you think so ?
Find it better actually...........
