I have got amvo virus in my computer today.I've had it before, so I knew what to do.But it seemed that I failed. Then I found a software that allowed me to see the hidden files.By using this I tried to delete the files that came from the amvo virus.I deleted some files in system32. I wasn't sure one of them was the effected file. But still, I deleted. Then I went Run, wrote services.msc and went to start up.I disabled some of them. Then I deleted some of regedit keys in Run key. After that I ran the last software to get rid of this problem , I restarted my computer. But it failed. The logon screen never showed up and it all kept restarting.I know that I've deleted some important system files so I wish to know what they are to recover my computer without formatting. If anyone has an idea please let me know. What's that system file's name?

You want us to guess what files you deleted?

With all the damage you have done to your system IE. deleting system files and registry entries, your best bet is to re-install XP.

How did you know what to do? I have been a computer geek for more years than most people are old and I don't try to remember code or scripting from memory. I always follow a detailed sheet of what to do and what to look for. If you yourself don't know what files you deleted we definitely would not know as we have not a clue as to what you did or did not do. How could we.

How are we supposed to know what files you deleted?

There are plenty of sites that explain exactly how to remove amvo manually...you should have printed out the instructions. From what I've read, it's spread thru USB memory sticks.

LOL @ lurkswithin.

Hey maybe we should try to guess what registry entries he deleted too. We could make this a fun little game!

If you have a generic box, you can try a 'Repair Install' using your XP pro install CD.

How to do a 'Repair' install

I just wondered what files could keep Windows from opening. And I found out. You just didn't need to laugh because someday it would happen to you too and you'd never want to format.

No, it would never happen to us because most of us are smart enough to not go into the system folder and start deleting files. Of course most of use here are also smart enough to know how to avoid getting a virus in the first place.

And I don't have to worry about formatting either. I use Acronis True image and do regular backups. It would take me less than 10 minutes to get my system back to its fully functioning state.

And we weren't laughing at your problem, just your total lack of understanding that no one on this end could ever guess what the heck you deleted.
