I'm trying to install an msi file. Windows Installer (v3.1) won't let me choose where to install the file and it's default location is C..but my drive is named I. I can't rename the drive, tried this already..is there a way that i can change windows installer's default target directory? i dont have this installation problem with anything else (im trying to install a modification named the last stand v.5).

by the way, there is no option to change the install location as there normally is when you try to install a game or something

This is a problem with the installer script the came with the application you are trying to install - not Windows Installer.

.msi installers are generated by Windows Installer by the programmer writing the application and Windows Installer is needed to use it.

Bad programming has assumed the System drive is drive C:, which it is most of the time. There are ways in Windows of determining unequivocally where the system drive is. The programmer that wrote this application is obviously not aware of it.

I would be very wary of such an application. If the programmer made such a fundamental mistake, there is no telling what other mistakes he has made.
