Comment:

Whenever I start certain applications, windows installer automatically
starts. I have tried disabling installer through "gpedit.msc" but it still
wants to start up.
Unfortunately I no longer have the application that installer wishes to
install.
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks

You probably have some old keys left in the registry from the previous application. Do a thorough registry cleaning to remove them.
You could do it manually using regedit, but you'll save time with a reliable registry utility such as RegSeeker.
