Subject: Windows installer serious problemOS: Xp pro sp2CPU/Ram: P4 3.0G |
Comment: I have serious problem installing / uninstalling anything on my pc after a clean xp pro installation. When I check the event viewer I see a warning about msinstaller saying "Failed to connect to server. Error: 0x80070005" and some errors about eventsystem saying "The COM+ Event System detected a bad return code during its internal processing. HRESULT was 80070005 from line 44 of d:\qxp_slp\com\com1x\src\events\tier1\eventsystemobj.cpp. Please contact Microsoft Product Support Services to report this error.". I've already tried registering/unregistering msiexec , used the cleanup uitlity and then reinstalled windows installer 3 , checked windows installer that is running but when try to install/uninstall software I always get this message " The windows installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if run windows in safe mode ,or if the windows installer is not correctly installed .Contact your support personnel for assistance." . Any ideas what might be wrong ? Thanks for your help

Reply: (edit)Go to: Search the Knowledge Base Under "Advanced Search": Next to the word FOR, type: windows installer service could not be accessed Then click the arrow button. You can now look through some articles for yourself, to see if there is any help there. NOTE: Check the bottom of any article to see if it applies to your edition of XP (Home or Pro). ------------- At least 3 articles come up with that error.
