When I try to install <SOME> programs the following happens - The installshield wizard starts, the window installer starts and then I get this message: The Windows installer Service could not be accessed. This occurs if running Win in safe Mode, or if the installer is not correctly installed - contact support centre

May need to re-install the Windows "MSI" file. I had this happen long ago. I did a search on google & it pointed me to the right place to d/l and replace the bad file. If I remember correctly, there was a caution to be sure to match the version of windows (xp, 98, etc) to the proper version of the ms installer program.

Sorry - not a whole lot of help here.
good luck

. . .the window installer starts and then I get this message: The Windows installer Service could not be accessed.

1. Go to Start > Run > type in "services.msc" (without the quote) and hit ENTER.

2. Scroll down the list of Windows Services
until you see "Windows Installer." Right-click on Startup Type > Properties > and set to MANUAL. Apply and exit.
